The Philippine Science High School–Bicol Region Campus (PSHS-BRC) commemorated its faculty and staff in the Annual Teachers’ Day Celebration 2024, titled “Maestro de Canvas: Masterpiece in Every Stroke”, on October 4 at the campus gymnasium.

The event consisted of activities such as an open forum, a gameshow, token giving, performances, and video presentations centered on expressing gratitude to the teaching staff of PSHS-BRC.

The prelude of the event began with an exercise activity “Zumba ka Dzai” led by select Grades 11 and 12 scholars, followed by a health break that teachers utilized for the Holistic Health and Fitness Talk at the Audio Visual Room.

The open forum, directed by invited resource person Jane Secundo, aimed to promote healthy habits and fitness among faculty through hands-on activities such as mind maps and a visualization activity that challenged common negative perceptions of staying healthy.

Your intention (to stay healthy) should always come from a place of love. If it comes from a place of fear, you will not be able to sustain it,” Secundo said, giving advice for a longer and better quality of life.

The second part of the event’s opening started with a prayer doxology performance and singing of the national anthem led by Danza Serenata, followed by the opening remarks of Supreme Student Government (SSG) President Aeon Visitacion.

Campus Director Engr. Lorvi Pagorogon also gave a message citing the World Teachers’ Day 2024 theme “Valuing Teacher’s Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education”, to highlight the importance of recognizing the struggles of teachers that come with the current demands of the 21st century to teaching skills.

Afterward was the performance segment with a total of 13 prepared productions from the school’s Alternative Learning Activities (ALA) clubs, where students represent their club in showcasing various acts, including live band and dance covers, skits, and a spoken word poetry performance.

For the next segment, the SSG led the giving of sash and tokens where scholars used the standby time to connect with their teachers and enjoy a picture-taking booth sponsored by alumnus Crystal Claire Alvarado-Parafina.

The teacher game section “Family Feud” hosted by SSG Public Information Officer (PIO) Aaron Cordial began shortly after, pitching teams Prime Teach and New Teach against each other — with the latter finding the overall win in the final round.

Succeeding the game show was the first part of the video tribute presentation to teachers showcasing messages from alumni students of various batches, while the second part displayed greetings from public figures such as actress Judy Ann Santos Agoncillo and Atty. Chel Diokno.

To conclude the event, Curriculum and Instruction Division chief Aileen Pesino delivered the closing remarks, giving gratitude to the event’s organizers and commending the faculty and staff of PSHS-BRC.
